Let’s stay COOL

December, 17th year of the Tembun era (1548), Gassantoda Castle, Izumo 1

“Uwaa! Uwaa!”

What, what, what’s going on? Don’t tell me that this crying voice is my own voice?

Or rather, a baby’s first bath feels good.

“Ohh, it’s born!”

“My lord, it is a girl.”

“““Congratulations.”””

“My lord, I am sorry that it is not a boy.”

I’m sorry I was born a girl! Or rather, my eyes are blurry and I can’t really see!

Wait, girl? Female…… my sex chromosomes are woman’s XX?
Well, that probably is so.

OKAY, calm down. Let’s stay KOOL.
That’s right, the era from now on is, Keep Only One Love! 2

Wait not that, let’s stay COOL. COOL.

First of all, what I felt was weird was although my eyes were blurry and couldn’t see, I could hear a dialect of Japanese from the voices in the surroundings, and there was a ‘?’ inside my head.

‘W-Well, I might have been granted an automatic translation function as my reincarnation privilege,’ I tried to positively think. The translation function could only understand around half of those words though.

Is this the so-called TS-reincarnation seen in web novels and that sort? 3 Well, it’s probably like that.

“No worries, I have Saburoshiro, and Gengorou as my sons, so I do not mind. Rather than that, it is best that the mother and child are both safe. Momo, you’ve done well!” 4

Hmm, it seems like the person who seems to be my mom is named Momo. I also heard words like Gengorou, but that’s a pretty Japanese-styled name.

Well, diving beetles (genkirou) are insects that live at the waterside though! 5

“Those are words wasted on me.”

“Umu, since it’s a girl, even in your parent’s main lineage, she will be very popular as a wife for the neighboring daimyos and influential local feudal lords.” 6

“Fufu, that is a bit too early.”

Yup yup, that’s good mom! Keep on telling him that! This fella wants to marry off a baby that was just bored. Don’t make up an unreasonable story!
There’s almost no mistaking that the man who was talking proudly was probably my father.

Or rather, my lord, daimyo, local feudal lords…… 7

Okaayy, calm down. Let’s be KOOL.

“Hihhifu, hihhiffuu.” (TL: Not supposed to make sense lol)

“Oh no! Is she not having a convulsion!?”

You’re wrong. It’s the Lamaze whatever it is. 8

Wait, that’s not the point. Lord, daimyo… was I perhaps reincarnated into a good family?

“It seems like she wanted milk. Lord, This child is a girl, so I would like to raise her with her own mother’s milk as much as possible, but would that be fine?”

“Let’s see, Momo should do as you like.”

“Thank you very much.”

Good job. It seems like it was an urban legend that breast milk is unpleasant. As far as I—a baby—was concerned, it was delicious like Chirumiru. 9

Well, that’s probably how it is. If breast milk tasted bad, I’d feel like even babies would dislike drinking it.

Or rather, my stomach is packed, so I’m sleepy. Good night.

January, 18th year of the Tembun era (1549), Gassantoda Castle, Izumo

Around two weeks passed after I was born, I was able to see, so the number of ‘?’s increased in my head.
No matter how I looked at it, there were people dressed in clothing and building sets similar to those in a period drama.

W-Well, Japanese-styled fantasies are also okay if you ask me.

By the way, I was named Tama. As though it were a cat’s name. Automatic translation function-san, please properly do your job. 10

Thus, I drank my mother’s breast milk and slept, and occasionally drank a person’s breast milk who seemed to be my wet nurse and slept. I continued to do that over and over……

Aren’t I escaping from reality?

This body is awfully hungry, and I’m excessively drowsy after all. Well, baby things might be the same for everyone though.

Yup. Let’s take a good look at reality soon……

Apparently, this is not a world of swords and magic, but definitely Izumo in the Sengoku era.

From all the conversations, “Ouchi has~” “Iwami’s~” “Mori has~” “Houki’s~” “Yamana~” “Mitoya-dono has~” “Lake Shinji’s~” “Tako Domain just~”, could be heard. 11

The final blow was,

“The aim for Amago this year is to carry out the development of the territory more than ever and to stabilize Touhaku, the northern part of Bichuu, and the western part of Mimasaka. Yamana Samanosuke-dono’s son, Genichirou-dono will take the place of Inaba-shugo who died a few years ago, and expel Tajima Yamana, who schemed to usurp Inaba, from Inaba!” 12

Apparently, my papa is Izumo’s daimyo in the Sengoku era called Amago Haruhisa. 13

Speaking of Amago, isn’t that the house that was overthrown by the Mori…… 14

Wasn’t it popular recently to reincarnate with a cheat on easy mode?

I wouldn’t say I’d like to live in luxuries like Oda, Toyotomi, or Tokugawa, but I’d like to reincarnate in a house that survives at least. 15

Hey, Kami-sama?

  1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gassantoda_Castle
  2. It’s a Vocaloid reference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWq97FnRifA
  3. The actual tag is called ‘TS転生’ for reincarnations into another world while genderbending.
  4. Saburoshiro is Amago Yoshihisa.
    https://bit.ly/2VCPoOu
  5. Yes, 源五郎 is not only a name that’s given to the fifth son, but also what a Japanese predaceous diving beetle is called. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dytiscidae
  6. Holyyy, this is how people thought of women at this period, so suck it up. Also, when a woman marries out of their family, they are no longer considered part of that family anymore and part of the family they married into. He was mentioning that he could marry his daughter to his wife’s original family, which was totally acceptable at that time.
  7. Just a heads up, when they call the main character’s father “my lord”, they are using the term ‘oyakata-sama’ which is a dead word that was only used in ancient times.
  8. Lamaze technique: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamaze_technique
  9. Chirumiru powdered milk: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/chirumiru-cirno
  10. Tama is a stereotypical name for a cat in Japanese, similar to how many people call their dogs “Lucky”.
  11. ALL of these mention REAL people and places, but I will not make footnotes for each person/place since they will be slowly introduced later.
  12. Omg there are a lot of things that actually matter in this one line. Inaba Shugo is NOT related to the Inaba clan, instead referring to most likely Inaba Province. He mentions several places which are ALL real locations. Yes, Tajima Tajima is related to the Yamana clan. The Yamana clan took over the Inaba province in real life but ended up only holding the better part of it at the end of the Sengoku period. Please note that the Amago was NOT a small clan in that era. In fact, it was a huge clan that was overthrown by the Mori clan (which is a famous clan). Many big clans of this era were erased by Oda Nobunaga and the rest of the warlords.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamana_clan (Yamana Clan)
  13. Amago Haruhisa: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amago_Haruhisa
  14. The Amago clan was overthrown by Mori Motonari of the Mori clan after Gassantoda Castle (yes, the castle they’re in right now) fell.
  15. Those are the three most famous people of the Sengoku era. Oda Nobunaga is the most famous one, but he gets killed by his subordinate, Akechi Mitsuhide, allowing Toyotomi Hideyoshi to take over, but he dies before he unites Japan. Tokugawa Ieyasu takes advantage of the political turmoil and eventually establishes the famous Tokugawa Shogunate that lasts until 1868 (which marks the beginning of modern Japan).

  1. A sengoku tale that is not 99% ecchi garbage and gender-bending. How nice.
…what happened to tooltips 10-12 and the 5 story paragraphs embedded inside them? O_O

a baby that was just bored – born.

“Hihhifu, hihhiffuu.” – that’s just breathing sounds. 2 short breaths in, 1 long out. It’s supposed to be good for controlling panic, but…yeah, seeing a baby trying to do that would freak anyone out.

  2. Lol I read the last line and continued on not realizing it was the last line and I was like, why would a kami read from a pirate site?
