Let’s Create a High Potion

There is one thing that I have yet to make since I went collecting together with Dan the other day. It’s a high potion.
High potions are made from Medicinal Herbs, Nutrients, and Mana Grass. The concoction method is similar to that of regular potions.

I decided to pluck the high-quality medicinal herbs and mana grass and go to the laboratory.
By the way, I always make sure that I have a stockpile of nutrients. If it is necessary, I sprinkle the nutrients together with water when watering.

I finely chopped the Medicinal Herbs and Mana Grass as prep work. Then, I put everything in the nutrients.
Next, I put the beaker on top of the heating magic tool and began to heat it.
Small bubbles began to form on top of the water, clinging to the sides of the beaker.

[High Potion?]

Classification: Medicine
Quality: Low
Details: The active ingredients are hardly extracted.

When I let it sit for a bit longer, the bubbles grew larger.

[High Potion]

Classification: Medicine
Quality: Low++
Details: The active ingredients are weak.

When I let it sit even longer, the water started to burble sometimes.

[High Potion]

Classification: Medicine
Quality: Normal–
Details: Insufficient extraction of the leaves’ active ingredients.

Then, I lowered the output of the magic tool before it boiled.
I decided to try using an hourglass.

Six hourglass flips later. Even so, I have been waiting for quite a while.

[High Potion]

Classification: Medicine
Quality: Normal-
Details: Extraction of the leaves’ active ingredients is still possible.

I wonder if there’s a method to extract them quickly… At this rate, won’t I have to stay up all night watching it?

I tried looking it up in [Introductions to Alchemy].
Let’s see…
[One can control extraction speed by pouring in mana.]

This is quite ambiguous…

I stirred the processing liquid medicine well to homogenize them, then divided them into three beakers.
I noticed that Kate, who was waiting on me, drew back. Yeah, I guess she was wary of another experiment explosion. How rude! (angry noises)

The first one. I wrapped the other two around a thick cloth to keep them warm.
Keeping the mana manipulation points in mind, I gathered mana to both my hands.

“Hmm, slowly, slowly. Let it seep out.”

Yeah, it’s not changing.

[High Potion]

Classification: Medicine
Quality: Normal-
Details: Extraction of the leaves’ active ingredients is still possible.

Hmm, I put my chin on the desk and think about what to do.
Come to think of it, didn’t my magic teacher Yuria-sensei say, “Magic is realizing an image into reality through mana. Therefore, instead of the process and theory, imagining the final outcome in detail will cause the phenomenon that occurs to change.”

A concrete image…
I pulled myself together, put both my hands on the beaker, then poured my mana.
‘The extract, which was comprised of leaves, gradually dissolved in the nutrients…’

[High Potion]

Classification: Medicine
Quality: Normal
Details: Extraction of the leaves’ active ingredients is still possible.

Huh? It seems like one minus was taken off…

[High Potion]

Classification: Medicine
Quality: Normal+
Details: Extraction of the leaves’ active ingredients are still possible. However, quality is higher than normal high potions.

[High Potion]

Classification: Medicine
Quality: Normal++
Details: Extraction of the leaves’ active ingredients are still possible. Even so, better than common high potions.

[High Potion]

Classification: Medicine
Quality: High
Details: An excellent article boasting 1.5 times the recovery amount of usual products. Gentle, sweet taste.

Yay! I did it!
I poured mana the same way in the other beakers and I was able to acquire high-quality potions.

In the end, I made five vials of high potions.

That evening, Father, who had been so enthusiastic about the mana potion yesterday, saying “I’ll negotiate to the government to get them to buy it tomorrow!” came back home feeling down. Rather than the negotiations not going well, it seems like the Knight Order intervened.

‘Why should the Mage Troops be the only ones who get to buy such good products! If that’s how it’s going to be, we want good-quality high potions too!’ the Knight Order complained like a kid in an argument.

“Well, you see, we’re both risking our lives, so I understand that they want good potions…” Father grumbled as he sighed.

“Come to think of it, I was able to create high-quality high potions finally today… At 1.5 times quality,” I tried murmuring to Father, who was prostrating at the table.

“That’s it!”

Father suddenly lifted his head.

“Daisy, come along as well! Let’s try negotiating with them one more time tomorrow!”

It was decided that I will go to the royal castle together with Father tomorrow.

  1. how convinient… just when she made it it is needed.
those overly convinient developments are boring…
well, at least the experimenting is nice.

    1. well to be fair this is the start still also author probably needed some kinda excuse to expand the cast out of everyone in mc’s immediate location you know she is going to come into conflict with someone at the royal castle for some contrite reason

    2. I’ve long stopped caring about stuff like this in slice of life novels. As long as no one stop doing stupid things, it’s good.

      1. True, that and as an MC having plot armor. People see much more contrived bits of “luck” fall onto a shonen protagonists lap with no to little build up.

    1. If you ever read my review on novel updates, the job itself is a failure for a noble. Title is click bait.

  2. Heal potion is for healing, mana potion is for mana, so a high potion is to get….
    😛
Now we know why she is a failure as an alchemist! She switched jobs into “Drug Dealer”! lol!
