It seems like I blacked out.

I was sleeping on top of a futon. 2

It was a warm and fluffy high-class futon.

It was clearly high-class, and silk white nightclothes… my underwear too?
A loincloth?

Looks like someone changed my clothes before putting me to bed.

The lines shined from the shoji in the tatami room.

The first thing that caught my eye was the extravagant ornament drawing, I wonder if it’s one of those ‘beauties of nature’? 3 The flower is drawn in a vivid manner.

When I looked to the side, there was a painting that seemed to have a sliding screen, golden leaf background, and tree peony.

Hm? A high-class inn? 4 A temple?

Did I do something to be in someone’s favor?

Hmm, at any rate, it must all be a dream.

When I looked around the room, my school uniform was on a rack at my feet.

On the reverse side of the cloth, a purple dragon was embroidered.

I took off the futon and got up, then saw the handsome boy– the one that was affiliated with a large idol office who appeared in my dream–in a samurai outfit and sitting in a seiza position while sleeping with his head nodding up and down.

“Huh? Eh? What?”

My voice leaked out unintentionally.

“You have awakened? Ibaraki’s Restive Horse-dono.”

That’s not my name though……
My mouth was opening and closing but my words wouldn’t come up, making me embarrassed.

“You are all right, it is all right, this is the inner palace of the Azuchi Castle after all.”

“E-Excuse me? Azuchi Castle? Yes? Eh? What are you saying?”

“It is reasonable that you are bewildered. That morning, after you killed Akechi Mitsuhide, we returned here from Kyoto in a hurry. Although I imagine it was impolite, I would have lost all my manners if I left you, who killed Akechi Mitshide, so I allowed myself to carry you. my lord fastened you to his personal horse and brought you here. For three days since then, Ibaraki’s Restive Horse has been sleeping. I do believe it was rude of me, but I allowed myself to change your clothes and wipe your body.”

“Excuse me? Lord? Azuchi Castle? Akechi Mitshide?”

I couldn’t even believe my own ears as I heard phrases that could only be found in history classes and historical dramas. 5

“Are you confused? Do not worry, by the order of my lord, Oda Nobunaga-sama, I have been told to give the best hospitality we can give to our guest, no, our lord’s lifesaver Ibaraki’s Restive Horse-dono. Please be at peace of mind and rest.”

Bang!

The sliding screen suddenly opened.

That scared me so please stop.

“So you’ve woken up.”

The dandy middle-aged man who grew out his beard glared at me.

Isn’t that the actor? I really wanted his autograph, how unfortunate.

I trembled at his sharp glint in his eye.

“My lord, he has only just awakened.”

I could not move from the top of the futon.

The beautiful boy bowed his head deeply to the point it pressed against the tatami mat and then uttered these words.

“Bring him to the castle tower after he has had a meal.”

“Yes, understood.”

After the dandy middle-aged man said what he wanted to say, he left the room while leaving the sliding screen open. 6

I looked beyond the screen and was surprised by the castle.

“Azuchi Castle!”

I rushed out to the garden.

Barefoot.

Eh? What’s this? This is the castle tower that I’ve only seen in magazines and CG! 7

The Heisei live castle tower was a castle tower with a watchtower that stretched in a line.

A hexagon? Eh? A higher level than Kinkaku-ji? 8

“This is amazing.”

Only words of astonishment came out.

When you’re really surprised, your vocabulary would decline in an instant. I have no other way to express it than ‘amazing.

Changing topics, when I looked around the place I just rushed out, it was a one-story house courtyard.

Is this perhaps a room for imperial visits?

Eh?

“The center is the safest, so we are using the visitor room. This is my lord’s greatest courtesy.”

I confirmed that this was definitely not the Heisei era.

The current scene is not the castle that was destroyed and disappeared. It was a perfect Azuchi Castle.

How did this occur?

  3. Flowingcloud: Beauties of nature (花鳥風月): Read as ‘kachoufuugetsu’, this refers to traditional themes of natural beauty (nature as it is, etc.) in Japanese aesthetics. https://bit.ly/323Prm1

  5. Flowingcloud: The author actually uses the term 大河ドラマ which are long-running historical drama series on NHK.
  6. Flowingcloud: Just in case if you didn’t know, that’s super rude. Like don’t even mention modern-day Japan, this could get you killed by your lord/master if you left the door open after you left the room.
  7. Flowingcloud: Probably should explain that Japanese “castle towers” isn’t referring to the western kind, but the main castle portion in the image linked. The courtyard he’s residing in is not part of the castle tower.
