The top floor of the Tokyo Odaiba Teia Tower.

At that tower’s lounge, where one of Japan’s leading business conglomerates—the Teia group—was holding a project completion party, I was looking at the skyscrapers.

Originally, with the announcement of breaking off of my engagement, my family and I were doomed to be ruined.

If this was the same story as a game I knew, that is.

This place was used in the last scene of an otome game I played a long time ago, “Let’s Talk About Love With You Before the Falling Cherry Blossoms”. 1

I am still perplexed by my appearance I see reflected in the windowpane.

I was not such a beautiful blonde.

I was not this fair-skinned.

I was not this bewitching.

I was not this evil.

“I was searching for you, Runa.”

I was not called Runa, nor was my name Keikain Runa.

A voice called out to me from behind, and when I turned around, I saw the man who would become my fiance.

Teia Eiichi.

As the Teia Group’s successor, displaying his talents in the Teia Group at such a young age, he had a cold gaze.

“Huh? Eiichi-san. Shouldn’t you be with Mizuho-san instead of me?”

Even though I pretended to not be interested and tried to drive him away, Eiichi-san continued to stare at me.

Suspicion was clearly visible in his eyes.

“What on earth did you do?”

That voice wasn’t one of whispering love, but one of accusation.

Nonetheless, I cannot help but acknowledge his accusatory tone.

That’s because it wasn’t a topic suitable for the seat of honor to be discussed in the party hall.

(The people from Wall Street were noisy. What did you do?)

(It seems like the top brass of Wall Street was called to Washington. They’re concerned about that.)

(So that’s why those financial system bastards aren’t here.)

(The subprime loans have been involved, and the heart of it all has finally caught on fire.)

(This isn’t someone else’s problem. We don’t know how far the damage will spread…)

If this was the game, I would be denounced here and fall to ruin.

“I’m planning to play my hand so it doesn’t involve the Teia group though?”

“That’s not it!”

Eiichi-san’s angry voice was pleasing to the ears.

The ikemen-voice coming from an ikemen would originally be a reward. 2

If that didn’t involve me being denounced that is.

“Why didn’t you consult me! Mitsuya and Yujiro were also concerned about your movements!! Mizuho too!”

The reason he stopped talking was because I was looking at the night scenery again.

A blunt rejection.

Gotou Mitsuya is a prodigy from a bureaucratic family whose father is the vice-minister of the Ministry of Finance, Izumikawa Yujiro is the scion of a political family whose father is a member of the ruling party in the National Diet.

These three people’s original role is to denounce me and make the original me fall into ruin. In the game, that is.

This is the so-called ‘reincarnation’.

I have my memories from my previous life and put in large amounts of effort so I don’t have to fall into ruin again.

Even so, I’m not going to pass by an ikemen like this.

“Well, I guess hiding it was impossible from you three.”

I plainly stated.

What I’ve done isn’t a big deal.

I only prepared a tax haven and shell company and gathered funds, and it became the source of supply for the fund traders who moved at will.

What one needs are connections.

“Runa-san! Why didn’t you rely on us!? Didn’t you say that we were friends!!”

The main character, Takanashi Mizuho, couldn’t endure hiding anymore and entered the room.

This appearance was just like the game, so I laughed.

In the end, I couldn’t even become a villainess.

“What are you laughing at! Runa-san!!”

An angry Mizuho-san is also cute.

That’s why at least I’ll exit with a lie that makes me villainess-y.

“Mizuho-san. Did you know? I despised you.”

I ended this scene with a smile turned towards the two who were dumbfounded.

As a good loser, this story comes to an end.

“You have my blessings. Well now, farewell.”

I left the lounge, taking a look back at the two.

When I left the lounge, the maid Tachibana Yuka quietly entered.

“Ojou-sama.”

Whether you thought it was a pathetic scene or not, her face displayed a color of worry, but I urged her to do what should be done.

I didn’t think that it would come at this time, but I felt faint.

My previous life.

My life took a turn for the worse once with that event which occurred in what I should call my previous life.

Even if this world was inside a game, as long as this setting was in modern-day Japan, I believed it would surely happen.

Then, my bet hit the mark.

“Just earlier, the investment bank Lehman Brothers applied for Chapter 11. The New York Stock Exchange has fallen into chaos.”

I began.

The beginning of my fall.

My previous life was worthless.

The company went bankrupt, I worked low wages at a black company and harmed my own health, then was quickly dismissed. In my final days, I died a dog’s death at the bottom of the social ladder.

Above all, we made light of the era.

This isn’t a story where I am denounced.

This is my revenge story against this era.

And the last curtain of my story that I dedicated my life to.

Let’s be splendidly defeated like a villainess.

I smiled, as usual, and marked the raising of the curtains.

“Good. Well then, let the games begin.” 3

  1. Slothmaster: I’m getting tired of Japanese and their ridiculously long game/novel/manga names. Give me back the age of One Piece, Naruto or Bleach!
  2. Slothmaster: How weird… I can’t find my 50 caliber sniper rifle anywhere… I really need to shoot someon—… Something right now… Slavemaster, do you know where it is?
Slavemaster: Here you go. I like the .5 bullet at the crotch area please.
  3. Slothmaster: I take back my hate. Asciente!
Slavemaster: I tried to make it as Hunger Game sounding as it could sound, although that’s literally what she said so it’s not like I went liberal translations or anything.

      1. Yup! I would spoil you what actually happened, but unfortunately, even the web novel version is not that far into the story yet. One of those “bait” openings from the author lol. Won’t be getting our questions answered until super later on in the future.

  1. — Thanks for the chapter!
    —- Thanks for the new series~ ^^.

well, guess I’m late in commenting this XD
