I don’t know who called the four of us: Teia Eiichi, Izumikawa Yujiro, Gotou Mitsuya, and me, Keikain Runa, the “Teito Gakushukan Quartet”.

And so, this is how I met the last of the quartet: Gotou Mitsuya.

This cafe was located in a quiet residential area in Tokyo.

The name of the coffee shop that feels like a hiding spot is “Avanti”.

I am not the only person who drinks grape juice, but all elementary school girls enjoy sweets as well.

Thus, at this age, it’s food before romance and it was only natural that Eiichi-kun and Yujiro-kun, who were studying in the library, took me up on my offer.

“It’s here. The sweets here are my favorite♪”

“Wait, weren’t you eating popcorn at the movie theater?”

“Eiichi-kun. A girl’s stomach has a different stomach for sweets♪”

“Then, when you get on the scale and scream.”

“Yujiro-kun. Saying this means war.”

“Okay, okay. Let’s stop talking about this!”

Each of us brought our butlers—our guardians—with us into the store, but honestly, we were here to watch a movie.

I emphasized to them that the appeal of watching a movie on a big screen was different, and they asked me, “Eh? You don’t reserve the entire place?” and I had to teach them about watching movies the normal way.

The movie we saw was a national anime that broke all box office records in Japan at the time.

I’ve seen this movie many times on TV, but it’s better to watch it on the big screen with others.

“When I saw the movie, I thought, ‘I’m a descendant of the guy who told them to take their head’, so I understand how he feels. I’ll have tiramisu and cream soda.”

“This is my first time seeing you order anything other than grape juice… Was that a good way to end the movie? I know the environment is important, but that would have made life impossible for the villagers who lost their place. I’ll have a Sachertorte and a cola.” 1

“Eiichi-kun doesn’t hesitate after all. My family is descendants of those samurais, you know. As a samurai, they couldn’t turn a blind eye to the way the main characters and the villagers live. If you think about it, the three of us here would be the main characters’ enemies. I’ll have a royal milk tea and panna cotta.”

Dressed in clothes appropriate for our age, we sat at a well-sunlit table and chattered about our impressions of the movie.

Then, we smacked our lips seeing the sweets that came our way.

Huh?

Isn’t this perhaps the legendary normie life?

*Cough!*

“Ah, I’m sorry. I hope we weren’t too loud.”

I immediately apologize in response to the deliberate cough from the seat next to us.

The moment I turned around, I found that that person was Gotou Mitsuya.

He was wearing glasses and reading a book by himself.

On the table, steam was rising from his latte.

“Hm? Isn’t that the one behind us from Gakushukan?”

“Ah. I think his name is Gotou Mitsuya if I remember correctly.”

“Why do you remember his name?”

I retorted to Yujiro when he said his name and Eiichi quickly retorted back to me.

When I thought about it, it was natural.

“That guy is always above you in our grade rankings, isn’t he?”

“Ahh.”

I understood.

Including Mitsuya-kun behind me, the three boys always get perfect scores, but I make one or two careless mistakes, so I’m usually in fourth place.

This phase of a boy’s heart is inevitably focused on a rival.

“I’ve met him a few times at my father’s dinner parties. His father is the head accountant.”

Ministry of Finance, Chief Accountant of Budgeting Bureau

He is the section chief of the budgeting bureau of the Ministry of Finance, the king of bureaucracy, but at the same time, he was already a confirmed candidate for the next vice-minister.

The upper class is basically an inner circle, so someone will eventually connect me with them somewhere.

If that’s the case, it’s not a bad idea to connect with him here.

After all, I will have to connect with him in the future anyway.

“Hey. If you want, why don’t you come over and chat with us?”

At times like this, I—a girl— have to break the ice.

Nonetheless, Mitsuya-kun—a self-conceited reading-type character—only gave a fleeting glance at our direction.

Breaking through from here was like a game and interesting.

I already have the card to breakthrough in my hand already.

“I’m reading that book too. Since we’re here, why don’t we share our impressions?”

A glint of interest lit up in Mitsuya-kun’s eyes.

On the other hand, the two who had been left behind looked at the title of the book he was holding to gain some information.

I smiled and gave him my impressions.

“It’s about people with strange abilities, and they don’t do anything amazing with that power, but it’s kind of a relaxing read. I’m sorry if I’m spoiling anything, but I liked the time travel in the middle and the story about the musician with good hearing at the end.”

“…Don’t worry. I’m reading it for the second time right now. You actually read it, didn’t you? I liked the story about the musician too.”

I smiled at Mitsuya, who looked at me with surprise.

It’s easy to forget, but we’re elementary schoolers.

“Hey. I want you to order that book for me.”

“Me too.”

Those two ordered the book that Mitsuya-kun was reading from the butler that came forth without any hesitation.

Since we’re at it, let’s spread the books I recommend.

“If that’s the case, I’ll introduce you to a book I recommend. It just came out recently, but I think Mitsuya-kun will like it.”

“Hey. Runa. Is that how it ends? I’m not really satisfied with it.”

“I liked it. The part where the old lady used the ticket.”

“The impact of the first story was too strong. But, isn’t this where Keikain got hooked?”

Another day, in the school library, the four of us were discussing our impressions.

While hanging out with them like this, I don’t understand the game where I would be condemned by the three of them.

Me neither so my curiosity about the prologue increases each chapter. But it’s in the far-away future…
Thank you for the chapter!! <3

  2. Hi. I have arrived (I guess those are bad news?).
Thanks 4 the chapter and your hard work.

    Once again. I’ve found something.

I almost slip this one, but as you may or may have not noticed, this phrase doesn’t end with a dot.
    That’s all.

I’ll continue my research and report any new things I may find.

The use of the work ‘already’ twice here is, as far as my knowledge goes, incoherent.
