……It was a lonely life.

That was what I felt when my life came to an end at the age of 15. This is because, in my last moments, there was no one to see me off, and I was just alone. Once a year, a blooming pot of flowers would heal me; it was just a single pot of decorative plants, but it watched over my final moments.

I was born to a family of nobles – a baron in the aristocracy. When I was a child, I loved flowers, and ever since then, I felt like I was always taking care of the flowers in the mansion’s garden.

In our country, every citizen is obligated to receive Baptism when they turn five and be bestowed a “job” by God. The job that I received from God, “Maid”, was the beginning of my misfortune.

“Maid” was a failure of a job as far as my parents were concerned.

My parents were originally proud, ambitious show-offs, and they had expectations for their children’s jobs. Also, they wanted their children to help develop our house. For that reason, they were unhappy with my results and decided to drive me out of the house someday. However, their pride still existed even within all of that. In order to not embarrass the house as much as possible, they drove manners, etiquette, reading, writing, and accounting into me so that I could become an attendant fitting of our family’s status. When I forgot something, the hired tutor struck me with a whip and wouldn’t allow me to even cry.

When I turned 10, a certain duke’s household was recruiting maids, and I was tactfully driven out of my home under the excuse: “The timing seems about right.” I continued to work as a maid of the duke’s family until at the age of 14, which also can be said to be my end, I came down with an incurable illness. The head of the duke’s household, who was greatly embarrassed by my former household’s refusal to take me in, isolated me in a crude, detached place in the land surrounding the mansion.

I was alone.

……Someone, love me, look at me.

That was my sole, meager wish, as my short life was coming to an end. t never came true in the end though.

……Sorry I couldn’t continue taking care of you.

I stretched out my arm towards the potted plant, but I used up all my strength and couldn’t reach it, falling to the floor. For some reason, I felt as if a solemn green light wrapped me, but that was surely an illusion when I was on the verge of dying.

Finally, my vision was enveloped in darkness.

The world, which I thought had become dark, suddenly became bright. It felt like the world suddenly became radiant without me opening my eyelids. Suddenly, air entered my lungs, and I heard a surprised, loud cry. “Henry-sama, my lord! She’s born! It’s a lovely daughter!”

……Didn’t I just die?

While I was still confused, someone cleaned my body and I felt a soft, warm cloth enveloping me. I was assaulted by an unexpected, soft feeling, and I knew that I was being held in someone else’s arms once again. It was a warm, large, large hand.

“What a beautiful child! Rose, thank you so much!” Suddenly, there was the sound of kissing next to me.

“My little sister,” someone said as they poked at my cheeks with their small fingers.

“Ahh, ahh.” I made a slightly higher-sounding baby noise that couldn’t form words, and a small hand kept petting my forehead.

“Hey, the two of you, be nice to your new sister,” A woman with a calm, gentle voice said.

“Little, sister, name.” The boy’s speech was awkward.

“What should we do, Rose? We decided to name her “Daisy” if it was a girl. Do you want to go through with it?”

“Yes, Dahlia or Daisy. I decided that the girl in this house would have the name of a flower.”

The reason they’re about to decide “my” name means that they must be my parents…… I see! I was reborn! I finally understood the sudden change around me.

I was reborn as “Daisy von Preslaria”. When I was a child, “me” and “Daisy” were two existence in my mind. However, eventually, the “me” in my mind faded away because I was loved a lot by my parents and siblings. That love granted the final wish that “I” had. Every day was filled with happiness and I was satisfied.

So that the “new me” won’t be discomforted, let’s leave just the useful memories that I learned in my past life to “Daisy”. “I” will take all of the unpleasant memories with me and disappear.

……Be happy, Other Me – Daisy. Or perhaps, my soul sister?

……And thank you, father, mother, tiny older brother and sister of the Preslaria family.

If someone, or maybe God, left me my memory when I reincarnated, thank you very much. The days I spent with Daisy at the Preslaria house was filled with happiness.

By the time Daisy celebrated her fourth birthday, “my” memories disappeared as if they had dissolved into the air.

  1. The title on Novel Updates is wrong “he Failure Alchemist of the Royal Capital ~My job is a failure so, I’ll manage my store carefreely.~” you forgot to add the “T”

    1. the typo had to be corrected by tony, so it took some time. it’s already been done, but thanks for the head up anyways. much appreciated.

  2. Poor MC, reincarnates, but sacrifices her existence to her new life. Still, it’ll be almost funny when she gets that “failure job”. Hope she woman’s up and comes back rather than being fully gone. So she can share her love of flowers and plants with “Daisy”.
