When I was in kindergarten, a few rules were created.

One of the rules is this.

““Senseiii. I can’t find Hotaru-chan!””

If Hotaru-chan’s the one hiding in hide-and-seek, there’s no way you can win.

I won’t tolerate any retorts that this was a mere fact and not a rule, this was one of the rules here.

And no one can find her before anyone is aware of the time, so in a certain sense, the rule was bad.

Having come so far, the children thought of everything they could do and use to find Hotaru-chan, but they could not find her.

She’s gotten to a point where she’s a hide-and-seek pro, rather, to the level where others are doubting whether she’s human or not.

“No way. If she wasn’t a human, then she wouldn’t be able to eat my oranges. These were oranges picked from the fields O-tanuki Daishi-sama blessed.”

That’s wrong, Asuka-chan.

Let’s stop telling her that no matter how you look at it, it’s a tangerine.

She’s the one that’s going to regret it after all.

Rather than that, a mysterious word that I was interested in appeared.

“O-Tankui Daishi-sama?”

“That’s right! He’s very important, and defeats ghosts with a single hit!!”

As I kept listening, Daishi-sama is apparently Kobo Daishi Kukai-sama of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage. 1

I sort of predicted this, but if you ask what a “O-tankuki” is, it seems like it’s a youkai tanuki. 2

Shikoku was famous for youkai tanukis, and it seems like it has a very high spiritual power in Ehime prefecture.

And it seems like the place where the tanuki was sealed is related to Kobo Daishi.

According to Asuka-chan, the tangerines picked from the tangerine fields nearby have the divine protection of “O-tanuki Daishi-sama”.

“Hotaru-chan, I love these oranges♪”

Hotaru-chan nodded in agreement to Asuka-chan.

With such a relationship, Hotaru-chan was helping Asuka-chan distribute the tangerines.

I got off-track.

“Why don’t you use the tangerines as bait to find Hotaru?”

“We’ve already tried that. And the tangerines were just eaten up.”

Hotaru-chan nodded in agreement with Asuka-chan who had her hands against her cheeks with a troubled face.

For the time being, I wonder if Hotaru-chan understands herself?

However, when I hear things like that, it makes me discomposed and my childish mind wants to find them.

My thoughts are often influenced by my body since I was reincarnated, but I don’t care. What’s life if you don’t enjoy your youth!

“Hehehe. I will be the one that finds Hotaru-chan!”

Twenty minutes later.

I did not know of the future where Hotaru-chan appeared in front of me without being found.

“Hehehe. I will find Hotaru-chan with the power of science and money!”

“Runa-chan, that’s childish……” 3

The next day.

I prepared a home video camera.

It was a few tens of thousands of yen and quite expensive, but I am an Ojou-sama.

I could take out this much money without batting an eyelid.

As a result of the three maids finding out that Tachibana bought it, I was the noble sacrifice—they began their photography session of me—and was able to install it in the kindergarten courtyard.

“Asuka-chan. Give me a tangerine.”

“Like I said, it’s an ‘orange’!”

“Sure, sure.”

I spread out the vinyl in the dead center of the courtyard and placed the tangerine on top.

When Hotaru-chan comes out of hiding, the video camera will perfectly record her.

Furthermore, Asuka-chan and I have ignored the opinions of the other kindergarteners who’ve said, “What do we do if Hotaru-chan keeps hiding the entire time?”

Thus, I’ve thrown down the gauntlet for some revenge with perfect readiness……

“No way! Why wasn’t it recorded!?”

“The tangerine disappeared!?”

Afterward, it goes without saying that we were all scared by the horror clip where the tangerine suddenly disappearing was recorded with the video camera.

Except for one person, Hotaru-chan, who was eating the tangerine deliciously.

“Isn’t there something? A way to find Hotaru-chan……”

I have already failed several times.

In the meantime, I have increased the number of video cameras to three.

Nevertheless, in a certain sense, the fact Hotaru-chan didn’t get recorded is a horror in itself, but I’ve gotten used to it.

Asuka-chan, who’s had a long relationship with Hotaru-chan, clapped her hands in response to me as I seriously pondered.

“Hotaru-chan likes songs, so you might be able to catch her if you sing!”

Internally retorting that she wasn’t some savage beast that music could soothe, or in this case, lure out, I started to sing.

It was a song that was being played on a national educational television station.

“~♪”

In my previous life, I liked to sing.

I loved to sing, and I wanted to go into it, but my financial situation did not allow me to do so.

As I grew up, I finally forgot how to even sing, and finally…

It was Asuka’s applause next to me that broke me out of that thought.

“Wow! Amazing! Runa-chan, you’re a good singer!”

I was so happy to be praised that I got carried away and performed a few more songs.

Before I knew it, not only Asuka, but also the nearby children and teachers were listening to me.

That’s right.

I loved singing so much…

That I even forgot…

Hotaru-chan clapped her hands in front of me when I finished singing.

Then she smiled and opened her mouth.

“Runa-chan, you’re so good♪”

“““Hotaru-chan just spokeeeeeee!!!!”””
