Amago no Miko Chapter 1

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE READING THE FIRST CHAPTER!

Flowingcloud: If you listened, thank you. I would like to explain the background and translation decision-making before you dive into this series. First, this novel is obviously placed in the Sengoku period and the author goes very in-depth at various times. Unlike other Sengoku period novels, the author has clearly done their research and uses many terms of that time. Thus, many people are not referred to xxx-san or yyy-kun, but xxx-[their title] or their title itself, like how sometimes people use ‘sensei’ as a proper noun. I have decided to keep the Japanese term in the romanized form to keep the feeling the author wanted to convey. At the start of every chapter, I will have a [Terms/Things to Note] section so that you have a  general idea of what their title/post/position means. Do not worry if it is unconfusing because not even every Japanese person would remember these things. If you are ever confused about a term, please refer to the glossary section. I have footnoted many important concepts, so please do not ignore the footnotes if you are completely confused.  Finally, the use of the term ‘miko’.  I have decided to use that instead of ‘shrine maiden’ due to the difference of meaning in Sengoku period. In this novel, the main character being a miko is quite an important point to note. Thank you for taking the time to read this blurb before reading.

Personally, I love this novel and it takes me hours to translate one chapter due to constantly researching, so I do hope you enjoy this story.

Schedule: 1 chapter per week. Wednesdays.
